A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

Garvagh and District Development Association was formed in 1995 after a public meeting was called to obtain local views concerning the formation of a community group.  It was agreed at the conclusion of the meeting that a group be formed and a committee was elected.  The committee established a registered charity-Garvagh Development Trust-to develop the community project.  The objectives of the Trust are:

  • To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Garvagh and the neighbourhood by the advancement of education and the provision of  facilities for social welfare, recreation and leisure
  • To preserve for the benefit of the public, land, buildings or other structures in Garvagh of particular beauty or historical or architectural interest
  • To provide or secure the provision of public amenities in Garvagh.

 

WHAT WE AIM TO DO?

A survey of the views of local individuals and groups clearly established a desire to establish:

  • A neutral venue
  • A focus of economic regeneration
  • Adequate facilities for groups in the area
